Sclerotherapy
Treatment for Varicose Veins
If you suffer from
unsightly or painful varicose veins, one of the treatments
that we may suggest is sclerotherapy. Reasons why people
get sclerotherapy treatments include:
Experience relief from legs
that swell, cramp or feel heavy
Regain the confidence to
show off your legs
Get back to friend and
family activities without leg pain
The procedure is relatively
pain-free
Bucks County Center for
Vein Medicine has been safely treating vein problems since
1992. Unlike many vein removal centers that offer
treatment only with a skin specialist, our sclerotherapy
treatments are performed by a Board-Certified Vascular Surgeon
or Licensed Physician Assistant.
Francis Collins had this to
say about life after we treated her: "Today, both of my legs
are virtually ache free," adding "Best of all, I wear shorts
and swim trunks when I like."
How is
Sclerotherapy Treated?
When you receive
sclerotherapy treatment, anesthesia is typically not needed.
You won't need hospitalization, and patients usually walk out
after treatment.
Sclerotherapy involves
injecting a sclerosant into a vein that's causing you trouble.
A sclerosant is simply an irritant, a chemical that stops
bleeding by hardening the blood or vein that it's injected
into. The walls of the vein scar together, and the vein
safely disappears from view.
Most patients see a noticeable improvement in the
disappearance of varicose veins in anywhere from three weeks
to several months. Support stockings are often required
for several weeks immediately following your treatment.
